My husband, Jonathan, is my favorite interlocutor. I asked him if he had a word rooted in locqui, and his response was, “soliloquy.” 10/10. For the other word, I’ll go with interlocutor’s more popular but less desirable cousin: interloper.
Oh wow! Well done, Jonathan! I never thought of "soliloquy," but it's a perfect example. And of "interlocutor"'s many cousins, I think you're correct: "interloper" is surely less desirable than "interlocutor"!
Levi is one of my favorite interlocutors. He’s always been a loquacious child, and that has carried into his teens. You may get to experience it in your class this year! 😄
“But to fail to forgive is a crime in its own right, the theft of a thing someone paid for. The keeping for oneself what belongs in those sweet, scarred hands.” That’s so well said. So very well said.
I loved your descriptions of the elderly woman and the little boy. I was right there with you, watching. So sweet. Praise God for such blessings in the midst of this world’s present agonies.
I am responding now to the first part of your newsletter because I dont want to forget what I have to say.
The first word that comes to mind is ventriloquist.
You did a lot of verbal poking and prodding, and that made me smile. The two people who are my favorite interlocutors are Richard and Rebecca. Yes you know both of them. 😊
Frankly, Rebecca, YOU are one of my favorite interlocutors, when we can steal some minutes or hours from our days of a balmy evening. I enjoy your eloquence (yes, I see this word is already taken in a comment here, but it is such a good word, I am going to use it also) and the fact that you are not overly loquacious but also a good listener. Because the interior of ones mind requires not just speaking, but listening, does it not? And one does not want to explore the interior of ones mind with someone intent upon logorrhea. (I know, wrong root, wrong language, in fact. But still a good word.)
Rebecca, YOU have long been one of my most favorite interlocutors!
My word is elocution. Does that work?
Likewise.
AND yes! It works beautifully!
Loki is Thor's brother, the god of mischief. So I guess Loqui would be the god of mischievous speech.
BTW I think mischievous is also an awkward word. And I think "awkward word" is an awkward phrase.
You are low key my favorite interlocutor.
This is a great response. And likewise.
Hm. Dad.
Loquacious feels like the obvious gimme- but I can't think of any others!
Interpose is my favorite. Because I love 'Come Thou Fount' wherein Jesus interposed his precious blood.
Ah, I love that you love talking with your dad. He is great to talk to!
And excellent word submissions. Thanks for the reminder of that wonderful hymn.
Pam is my favorite interlocutor and I think eloquent is a rather... eloquent use of the latin root locqui.
Pam is a great interlocutor, so I see why you named her.
And "eloquent" is perfect! Well done. :)

Ah, I hope I do! What an exciting prospect!

Thank you for writing and for sharing with us.
Thank you so much for reading.

"ventriloquist" is great! I didn't think of that one!
And thank you. And agreed on Richard. :)

Thank you! And right back at you!
Agreed re. the need of listening for the interior of the mind.
And logorrhea is an excellent word. Excellent, despite it's disinterested (in this case) root. I might have to do some work with that one....
