Oh, but snow DOES have a sound after the audible silence of its falling. Anyone who has walked on a wet snowfall will remind you of the glorious muted and squeaky crunch it makes under your feet.

Ah yes. You're right. I love that sound.

IF it happens to snow here, I pull up this album and hit play, because it absolutely evokes a sense of snow. On my recent trip we got snow on a day when none was in the forecast, and all the friends fully believe it was God’s kind gift to us Southern girls who long for snow but so rarely get it these days.

What a wonderful experience!

Hoping (somehow?) for snow here in Durham this winter....

I love this album! I love that having Spotify lets me listen to it all year ‘round! Rebecca, I lived in Durham, NC from 1970-1983, and we had snow at least once a year, but I remember that slowly changing. I miss snow so much! There are so many childhood memories attached to snow, and I believe that’s why I love the wintertime so much. When we moved from Texas to NC in November 1970, it wasn’t long before we experienced our first snow, and it was magical! Thank you for helping me remember! Merry Christmas!

I have a few other friends who've had the experience you name of living in a no-snow place as a child and then move to a place with snow. Magical, indeed. Do you get snow where you are now? My next door neighbor and I hope for it every year. I hope it comes! Merry Christmas, Angie!

I’m so sorry I’m just seeing your post! No snow much where I live now, but I do hope for it each year. I bet you just got some!

Wonderful thoughts shared here, Rebecca! Almost all of which I greatly appreciate and feel similarly to, even if I had never put some into formal Thought before, if you know what I mean! My girls and I feel that this album plus Michael W Smith’s Christmastime are the two BEST. Thank you.

We all love MWSmith's Christmastime, too! So glad you're also fans of A Charlie Brown Christmas. But of course you are!

And you always get snow, don't you! :)

I love this Rebecca! I’ve long said that my favorite Christmas sound is the sound of falling snow - “an audible silence”, yes!

I'm glad that definition resonates with you, too. The professor said that back in 2007, and I've always loved it.

Your writing is always excellent but this is sublime! I was likewise back in northern, snow covered fields and could hear those distinctive songs in my mind! Excellent, thank you!

You're so welcome. And "sublime"! Well. Thank YOU. I know you miss your northern home, too, even though, like me, you're glad to be here.

Maybe we'll get snow this winter. And a snow day!
